| BURWAY
HOUSE |
|||
The dream It’s been a long day, but you’re home. The gates to Burway House close smoothly behind you as you step into the spacious hall. Entering the family living area’s light and tranquil expanse, you pause to take in the panoramic vista of the Thames, then pour yourself a long cool drink before moving out to the sundeck. Settled in a chair, you bask in the evening warmth as you idly study the view. Chips of sunlight glint on the Thames and reflect on a riverboat cruising slowly past. A pair of swans pause momentarily, then glide gracefully on out of sight. Water laps gently and rhythmically against the riverbank. All is peaceful, all is well. Sipping your drink you consider plans for the weekend. A game of golf, perhaps, followed by lunch at the Three Horse Shoes across the river? Or maybe the family would like a visit to nearby Thorpe Park. Or how about a leisurely cruise up to Hampton Court Palace and a spot of shopping? With so much on your doorstep it’s a difficult choice to make... The reality The one choice that is easy to make is Burway House itself. Located on the far riverbank close to Laleham Village, Burway House is a spectacular new Surrey riverside residence of a bespoke modern design with influences from the Edwardian period. Overlooking both Laleham Village and Laleham golf course, the house enjoys panoramic views over the River Thames. Situated in approximately 1/3 acre of landscaped grounds, the property also boasts a 30 metre (100 foot) river frontage with substantial mooring. Constructed to a high specification over three floors, this family home offers a balanced combination of open plan living with more intimate areas such as the drawing room, dining room and study. A superior level of accommodation is achieved with five double sized bedrooms, three enjoying luxury en-suite facilities. Design features include a guest suite with vaulted ceiling, and galleried landings. The entire second floor also benefits from a large glass ‘lantern style’ roof section, giving all the rooms and landing an open feel and bathing them in additional light. The ultimate in modern living is supported by a host of features including a bespoke designer kitchen, luxuriously appointed bathrooms, a multi-zoned warm water underfloor heating and pressurised hot water system, cabling for a future audio visual system, automated entrance gates and a sophisticated security system. The location Laleham Village is a riverside community with many fine 18th and 19th century properties, situated in an area of considerable historical interest. All Saints Church in Laleham is believed to stand on the site of a former Roman temple and has pillars and arches dating back to the 12th century. In the churchyard lies the third Earl of Lucan, who commanded the Heavy Brigade of cavalry at Balaclava. The former Laleham Abbey, originally known as Laleham House, was built for the Earl of Lucan between 1803 and 1806. When the Lucan family left the village, the 70 acres of Abbey grounds were given for public use and now form Laleham Park. There is a choice selection of pubs and restaurants in the locality, the oldest public house in Laleham being 'The Three Horseshoes' on the Shepperton Road which dates back to the mid 17th century. Road: The M3 (J2) and M25 (J12) are approximately three miles away. Rail: Chertsey Station is about two miles away giving a regular commuter service to London Waterloo. Air: Heathrow is approximately twelve miles away, and Gatwick is easily accessible via the M25. |
